About the Author
Marty Neumeier is an author, designer, and business adviser whose mission is to bring the principles and processes of creativity to industry. His series of “whiteboard” books includes The Brand Gap, widely considered the foundation of modern brand-building; Zag, named one of the “top hundred business books of all time” for its insights into brand strategy; and The Designful Company, a guide to building a culture of nonstop innovation. His latest book, The 46 Rules of Genius, lays out a universal map to innovation mastery. In 1996, Neumeier founded Critique magazine, the first journal about design thinking. He has worked closely with innovative companies such as Apple, Netscape, Sun Microsystems, HP, Adobe, Google, and Microsoft to help advance their brands and cultures. Today he serves as Director of Transformation for Liquid Agency in Silicon Valley, and travels extensively as a workshop leader and speaker on the topics of innovation, brand, and design. Between trips, he and his wife divide their time between California and southwest France.

It's hard to find a book by Marty that doesn't read like a breeze while still packing a punch. I have all his books and keep on reading them everyday. I work in branding and love innovation and his books have been a great "blessing" to me. When people get to work with me, I usually get them started reading some of his books to get them prepared. I think Marty is still highly under rated, he is easily one of the best brand / creativity / design thinking guys out there.
This is now one of my favorite books of all time, and considering I have read several thousand books that's quite an endorsement. Exceedingly well-written, witty, fun, smart and helpful. I have read this book 4 times since I purchased it because I learn something new every time I read through it – I've also recommended it to all of my friends and my mastermind group is reading it. Need I say more?
As with all lists, by the end, you're thinking that we would have liked it better with 10 or 15 fewer rules. But in the beginning, up to about rule 20 or 25, the information is great. Anybody who doesn't see something they could view differently or do better is not paying attention.
Nearly every page of my copy of this book has a note or dog-eared page as a reminder to go back to an idea. Do this. Try this. Tell others about this.I love all of Marty Neumeier's books - especially this one. 46 tips that help you stand out, give you an edge and help you think and work better.
Reminds me of damn good advice (which is also brilliant). Marty's books are action packed with useable advice. This is the most action packed!
This is the fifth book that I have read from Marty Neumeier and I am amazed how consistently he has delivered a synthesis of a broad range of key concepts in very concise and no BS way.This book is a very practical list of recommendations that one can hold on to when working on design or innovation challenges. It will help you identify the levers you might want to adjust in order to increase your impact. In case you do not possess the skills or experience to make this adjustments, you will at least know which skills you will need to deliverable practice...
